Kakori kababs - there was this place "Aap ki khatir" outside humayun's tomb which were like eating butter only much much better. piping hot oozing out of a steaming soft white rumali

Gone down hill. There is a street stall/thelawalla outside a booze-shop somewhere in Gurgoan (just past the Delhi Naka) border-post near the IGI airport/Goregoan road which serves great chicken tikka and shami kebabs.

Isn't this a little bit vague, Anil?

Like, I do remember the dal makhani at this dhaba just over the Lajpatnagar/Jangpura Extension railway crossing, on the Jangpura side, was to die for.

Good luck with finding it, it will be worth it! laugh.gif

That sounds like Om Hotel, Sue smile.gif They had great tandoori chicken too once upon a time. Another place for good dal makhani in south delhi - Kamal / Haldiram in Sundar Nagar (excellent dhaba veg khana outdoors)

Anil, Aap ki khatir did go downhill, you're right, and then closed up altogether. Sort of coincidede with the Humayun tomb restorations - maybe related. I heard a rumour that they had shifted up the road and opened up somewhere near Nehru stadium - will investigate further.

Worth it, because never had such gourmet quality stuff in a roadside stall. The kathi in paratha were absolutely divine (and did I mention the kakori?)

The story is that the Aap ki khatir chef used to work for one of the semi-fancy GK/Friends Colony restaurants, and had a tiff and split.

There are about a hundred of those dhablets (and booze shops) between Radisson and the Gurgaon border. Similar at Badarpur border. SOme better than others - sometimes the food tastes great but dont have any boneless / curry / amorphous items - there's been a drop in the dog population round there wink.gif

maulana, if anil hasn't already sent you a private message, you can send him one.

but there'd better be a very public recounting of this encounter and your adventures in dhaba-land.
