I bought some of Bedekar's and not sure how to use it. the ingredients sound very interesting and it smells very different. how much do you add to say, 2 or 3 cups of cut up vegetables? what are the most suitable vegetables?
thanks to all maharashtrians.

QUOTE (arnab @ Apr 1 2005, 01:49 PM)
so, is goda masala an all-purpose masala or are there specific dishes/ingredients it is used for? as i ask i remember vaguely pratibha or someone else mentioning this a long time ago re ghati/marathi food.

I use it in stuffed eggplants, masale bhaat, and some usals, certain brothy sabjis called as rassas, some of the tougher green vegetables like gawar. Last night I made a moong-lauki to which I added some as well.

Usals discussed here

A lady from whom I did homestyle take-out added it to pretty much everything.

I think it is mainly used in vegetarian dishes. Meat and seafood use another masala called as "vaaTun", but that needs to be ground fresh.
