I can imagine the confusion if someone comes to Singapore and says "I want some chai" (chye, pronounced "chai" - general Chinese term for green leafy vegetable; chai - Hindi word for tea). Would people like photos and names of green vegetables available here? I don't mind posting as and when I make market excursions. Ok, I got snaps of some 7 varieties. They don't look as nice as Kavitha's lovely pics, for reasons that I shall not digress into. I am figuring out how to post them. I must warn you, Seeker, that even as I snapped them, I got mixed up between varieties, and I have no idea if the snaps will help you differentiate. I was helpfully told that Ara is never sold with roots and Mola is. They pronounced it Mola, btw, not Mula. Are these the same or different varieties?
eta : more helpful hints (or so she thinks). Siru, Ara and Mola keerai - the leaves look v similar in shape. Except Siru is much smaller and finer looking, Mola is the biggest and Ara is sold w/o roots, so apparently that is how to distinguish. eta2 : must say the paruppu keerai that I snapped looks nothing like what is in Kavitha's pic. Wonder if confusion is going to reduce or increase with all this. Acchha I got snaps for ara/siru/mola/mendhiya/paruppu/delhi palak (!) - but the cable that lets me upload them to the computer is missing. After seeing the wonderbar snaps from Kavitha, I am not sure if it is worth posting them - though there are some variations - the mola keerai here has no purple tinge, the paruppu keerai looks very different. Regional variations?

Dear Xena, do post your keerais. I do not know what is ara keerai.
We do not get ventaya keerai in Malaysia. Do also post your paruppu keerai. I am yet to get ahgathi keerai and valarai keerai. Its going to be keerai virunthu for a week. Thanks. Ara - also called arai, I suspect - seems to be the same family as siru and mola, but falls in the middle in size.
