A joke that I heard recently while watching the Filmfare ceremoney :
What is the similarity between Deepika Padukone and "Jodha Akbar" ? Everyone says about them : "Achchhi hai , lekin thodi lambi hai". Saw Ms Padukone in the ceremony. Dont know what the big hoopla about her is all about. This post has been edited by Mukta Sunit: Mar 6 2008, 03:34 AM -------------------- |

Is not Akshay Kumar getting attractive by the minute? No, I much preferred the earlier, unplucked version. The only recent improvment is in hairstyle. -------------------- |

See him in the rushes for Tashan- you will have the first real crush of your life- whether you are a man or a woman- trust me. You know what? Its AS that got me involved into BALLLEEWOOOD- I mean- I would never be able to sit like 3 hours for a movie-I would rather go for 2 in that time frame. And here I am, discussing and arguing about a medium that very few take seriously And In Tashan- AK looks totally awesome. Kareen is wearing really-realllllly-reaaaaaaaallllly low rise denims- that make her legs look shorter and body disproportionate- maybe other costumes would be better.. Katrina and Saif have a hot, hot dance # in 'Race' -yes sir. Anybody thinks Tanisha is Hot? I do.... -------------------- He had seen the light!!

Okay so never mind Partho-da, but what did you think of Irrfan, yaar? Never mind Om Shanti Om yaar, tell us what you thought of Irfan Khan in Maqbool! That whole cast is great, and now I must go find that qawwali again.... .... I might go on a Irfan-athon, while weeding out his more masala adventures. I'll need help with a shortlist -- do we have one on AS yet? I realised I had asked a similar question about good old Irfan once before in the Namesake thread! I agree, those frog-like eyes contribute totally to the charm. It's quite amazing, but he does manage to be ugly and sexy all at once, no? Thankfully he doesn't seem to want to get biceps the size of tree trunks or 8 or 12 or 24 pack abs or grow his hair long with streaks and look like an overgrown teenager. I hope he continues to look uglily sexy this way. He is great in the Namesake (very different role from Maqbool) and I also liked him as the bumbling despo in Life in a Metro (which was okay as a film, nothing to hate or love very much). He's a weird student leader with all kinds of hangups about his looks in Haasil, but the film itself I liked a lot less than some others. I didn't like Rog, and I haven't seen the Warrior. Not sure if I have missed any - I wish he would do more films... I want to see that A Mighty Heart with Angelina Jolie too. -------------------- I'd rather have an orchestra in front of me, than a helicopter behind.

I like the wiry fit (i.e. the I bike everywhere so I am generally lean and have plenty of stamina, but no bulgy muscles) not the steroidally fit. The big biceps and sewn on abs do NOTHING for me. OK here is the definitive filmography. Please to rank. |

Anil Kumble (nice legs!) Also one gets to see retired heroes in action. (Kumble! And how! I don't think he's ever looked this good, and I'm not talking about his bowling figures in the IPL! I didn't watch any game until the semis when the RCs won, and then felt really bad for him when the DC beat them. I need to add here that Anil Kumble has grown into a completely explicable crush. Watching the T20 World Cup... sometimes he's there as commentator and/or sage advice-giver (with, unfortunately, the execrable Bhogle, who reminds me of my current boss) and boy oh boy, is it worth it to just see him on screen! His voice is something else too. (I am adjourning to the explicable/excusable thread, wherever it is. Isn't it called "Hot or not"?) I agree completely. He's just looking and sounding better and better, no? That voice is truly to die for, its timbre, its pace, its total hotness. Not inexplicable crush at all!! And WHAT has Harsha Bhogle done to his hair? Did he get a transplant or something? It looks terrible on him. Kumble, Kumble, mumble... I sense a pattern... mumble... ...swooning... Boggling at Bhogle, meanwhile. Definitely "not". -------------------- |

But there's something a little creepy about men who go in for weaves and fussy hair treatments at the salon. I saw a model-turned-actor sitting at a Bombay salon ("saloon") getting a perm once. He was the only guy at the place, and the memory of his hair in curlers still makes me giggle. |

The only other guy who ever admitted to primping out at a ladies' hair salons -- in his case a for a perm -- said it was part of his professional disguise. There was something believable about this account; he had served as an FBI agent.

Not sure whether this will get hate mail sent my way, but here goes...I find Akshay Kumar particularly unattractive. It's not his looks, he seems reasonably good looking enough (though not my type!). It's just the way he comes across in films. His characters always seem arrogant and rather dim. In Namastey London I just wanted to slap him!
Now who is hot in my books....Saif Ali Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Vivek Oberoi, quite like Irrfan Khan and Ajay Devgan was totally worth mooning over in Omkara, IMO. Aamir Khan is ok, but I think Amir Khan (the boxer) is a little cuter! Maybe not for long though, what with all the boxing... -------------------- My Blog: Rice, Spice and Everything Nice

Sahid Kapoor is hot in Kaminay- that Tashi guy was really cool-whoever he was- I think he will get to be more of drug dealers in many more movies- maybe he is a drug dealer.
I think Charlie's character was HOT... Saif- both versions in Love Aaj Kal was fabulous and hot as Veer-and this was the only Dee Pad flick thet i sooo liked-she fit the bill perfectly.. -------------------- He had seen the light!!

Totally agree about Akshay Kumar - something about him puts me off in almost all the movies I watch. I tried watching Singh is King and Kambakt Ishq - could not sit for more than 10 mins ! Abhishek is pretty cute too but really needs to get some muscle - he looks too chubby in some movies ! Shahid Khan does look pretty good in his movies recently - a little too chocolatey (!) for me usually. -------------------- "The very word 'war', therefore, has become misleading. QUOTE(arnab) what is the appeal of hugh laurie? is it the whole consumptive rat look? Hugh Laurie, a looker? Well, tickle me pink again. A mealy-mouthed, blaah-faced, skull and bones sort of ghastly English lanky look. He was so annoying in Black Adder and Wodehouse Playhouse (give me Stephen Fry over him any day). And it goes on... gussie as the chief guest at the school prize function is one of the funniest things in all literature. and here is a television adaptation of the very scene. i like the hugh laurie - stephen fry television adaptations. my respect for laurie as an actor has only increased tremendously after recently getting hooked on 'house'. heh, thanks mamallan. i loved laurie as wooster - got the character perfectly. but fry was a tad too smarmy for jeeves, i felt. and too much facial expression - didn't jeeves only flutter a couple of hairs in his eyebrow if he was very moved? yes fry could have emoted a little less maybe. but overall i loved the show mostly because of laurie. speaking of whom, how many house fans here on AS? it's a terrific show. i don't watch much television, but this one i really like. -------------------- |

Now thats really shocking! I just got out of bed but had to reply to this as I'm deeply hurt especially because Hugh is the only real crush I had since my teenage years. I'm completely hooked on "House" only because of him. Even my three year old daughter thinks he's hot. (Everytime she sees him on tele she shouts "I love Dr. House") I saw the BBC Wodehouse series & thought Hugh was perfect as Bertie! -------------------- Manuscripts don't burn.

Accha, was Rishi Kapoor *ever* a good idea?
I was watching bits of Hum Kisise Kam Nahin on the local oldie channel last night and while he's not in sweaters, overweight and podgy, he is still quite ghastly. He yells and gives these little spasms ever so often and his face flesh shudders when he does that. Then while surfing I found bits of 'Wake Up Sid' showing on the local 'prime' channel and his son Ranbir isn't that great either, no? The thing that struck me the most is how looooong that Ranbir's face is, even though Neetu and Rishi are so round. He was yelling "I am so sick of you!" over and over, and not doing a very good job of it. -------------------- I'd rather have an orchestra in front of me, than a helicopter behind.
